Oscars 2016: Leonardo DiCaprio wins Best Actor for The Revenant

I think the whole world was rooting for Leonardo DiCaprio to win and Oscar and he’s done it! After four previous misses for ‘Best Actor’ he won his first Oscar for his part in the movie The Revenant.

Leo used his acceptance speech to highlight the issue of climate change. He said; ‘Making The Revenant was about man’s relationship to the natural world…climate change is real. It is happening right now. It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating.’ ‘Let us not take our planet for granted,’ he concluded. ‘I do not take tonight for granted.’

Other nominees in his category included Bryan Cranston for Trumbo. Matte Damon for The Martian, Michael Fassbender for Steve Jobs and Eddie Redmayne for The Danish Girl.
