The renowned 18th century bar underwent a significant transformation after being taken over by well-known publican and restaurateur Alan Clancy, who also owns House in Limerick, 37 Dawson Street, The Oak and House in Dublin.mb oyster tavern 020

Speaking at the launch Alan said “I am delighted to finally open the doors to the public and I would hope the people of Cork are going to love it. We have done our best to bring something new and exciting the city, and are thrilled to be working with The English Market to do something unique when it comes to our food offering. Tonight is a fantastic opportunity to showcase this, and I am thrilled with all the support we have received here in Cork.”

Speaking about the warm welcome and the positive feedback they have received so far, Alan continued “So far we have had very positive feedback from everyone who has popped in for a look. Everyone seems to have a story about The Oyster Tavern, and are keen to share very fond memories so it’s lovely to be here and to see their reaction when they see the new Oyster Tavern. We can’t wait to welcome the people of Cork through the doors this weekend.”

The two storey bar and restaurant will cater for all tastes; the downstairs bar will lend itself towards a more chilled and laid back customer, while the upstairs bar will host a party atmosphere with food, DJ, cocktails, and dance areas.

The Oyster Tavern will open daily serving great drink and great food and will open late every Friday, Saturday, and Bank Holiday Sunday night.
